Behind The Bottle: French Diapering Cream

Behind The Bottle: French Diapering Cream

Our French Diapering Cream came about when we first started wholesaling our products with cloth diapering brands. One company asked us if we’d consider adding this to our product line. After a lot of research on the product's ingredients, how it works, and the benefits, we knew we couldn’t pass up this amazing opportunity to create our version of French Diapering Cream.

Have you had to deal with a strong ammonia smell while changing a soiled diaper? Most diaper rash products will help repel moisture and even heal the skin on your baby but sometimes those pees and poos are too much even for those products to handle. The entire purpose of our French Diapering Cream was to create a product that not only helped heal, moisturize, and protect, but to address the main issue in many diaper rash cases: acidic pee and poos.

So much research is put into our products and ingredients. Here’s our ingredients for French Diapering Cream and what they actually do to help your baby!

Olive Oil: The main reason for using olive oil is the tradition in making this product. French Diapering Cream has been made for hundreds of years in France as a natural diaper rash solution for babies. Olive oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E which helps it to moisturize, protect, and reduce redness and inflammation. Olive oil is also non toxic and hypoallergenic for most people!

Distilled Water: The use of distilled water is to prolong shelf life and dilute the calcium hydroxide.

Candelilla Wax: Candelilla wax is used to strengthen the skin barrier while also being natural and a vegan friendly alternative to beeswax!

Shea Butter: Shea butter is a natural emulsifier meaning it helps oils and water blend together. Shea butter was added a few months after the products initial release due to needing a better solution against customers’ products separating.

Calcium Hydroxide: Calcium hydroxide may sound scary but it’s actually made from limestone. The limestone is heated until it becomes quicklime and then water is added creating calcium hydroxide. While being a skin irritant on its own due to its high pH, mixing calcium hydroxide with olive oil lowers the products overall pH to just high enough that the French Diapering Cream neutralizes the acidity in urine and feces without causing irritation.

Creating our French Diapering Cream took a lot of trial and error. We sent out numerous test patches to customers just like you. We listened to the feedback and learned so much along the way to provide you with the product so many people now know and love!

Having sustainable products is something we pride ourselves in here at Love, Mears. Most of our ingredients are purchased from reputable and quality small businesses giving us and you confidence in our products. All our products are also packaged in reusable and recyclable containers! How do you use this product?

Don’t believe us on how amazing Love, Mears French Diapering Cream is? Here’s a few reviews from our customers:

”I just got my French Diapering Cream Saturday and I’m OBSESSED to say the least. My guy gets irritated easily when wiped and this glides like butter! And his redness is pretty much gone!” ~Patience G.

“We have been struggling with eczema in the diaper area. I've tried everything under the sun, even did a yeast treatment thinking that might be the problem, did food journaling, back and forth with cloth and disposable to try ointments and creams. A few days using the French diapering cream that Johana T. so graciously gifted me and one day of using the balm. And look at these results baby’s eczema has tremendously improved!! Thank you Love, Mears for helping mamas across care for their baby’s skin” ~Iles L.

“So I finally see why everyone loves the french diaper cream and mad at myself for taking so long to try it thinking I wasn't going to like it. My daughter is in disposables cause I'm 8 months pregnant and can't deal with washing poop right now and she had gotten a bad rash for the first time ever. It is gone in TWO days y'all I'm placing another order for the french diaper cream.” ~Janelle M.
